I love the ceramic process. From block of clay, to finished piece of work, big or small, requires a minimum of two weeks time, including two 24 hour firings in the kiln, reaching 2000+ degrees.
The creative process is precious to me because it is something that cannot be forced or rushed along (speaking from personal experience!). To be inspired to create beautiful work requires a presence of mind, body and soul. It also requires a gentle voice towards oneself because clay is such a delicate material in all of it's various forms and stages.
I love to create organic, one-of-a-kind pieces of work. My favorite thing to do is take an idea from my head and start working it out with the clay, all while losing track of time. I have come to love the unexpected moments as the work transforms and often times becomes something far from my original inspiration. The control freak in me used to fight this process in full force. Relinquishing control has become my mantra within this process.
I used to hope for large orders to sustain my little art business and I have thoroughly enjoyed creating custom orders for many wonderful clients in the past. However, at the ripe old age of 32 years, I have realized that large orders actually deconstruct that organic process that is so dear to me. Therefore, I am no longer accepting orders at this time. I'm getting back to the root of things and working from scratch.
Thanks for finding me, following my shop, my work and for supporting handmade!
